About
Macy Realty & Auction was established in 2005 after Carey’s dad Charles Macy retired from the auction business after over 50 years of selling. Charles and Carey were partners in Macy and Macy Auctions for 28 years. Carey graduated from Missouri Auction school in 1976 and has been involved in auctions ever since. Carey has over 30 years experience in the auction business and has held many different types of auctions over the years. He has been the auctioneer at the Emporia Livestock Sale barn for 21 years. In 2005 he became a licensed Real Estate sales person.
Carey is also is a rancher and farrier. Some of his time is spent doing corrective shoeing on horses at Kansas State Veterinary Hospital and across NE Kansas.
Carey and Wanda both enjoy working on their 5- Ranch in Alta Vista Ks. If you want to see beauty come to the Flint Hills in Wabaunsee Co. Ks.
Wanda graduated from Mason City Iowa school of auctioneering in 1977 and after conducting several auctions on her own met and married into the Macy auction family. Though she doesn’t sell at the auctions much anymore she has been known to conduct a benefit auction for church groups or the County 4-H. Wanda has been known to come out of "retirement" to help out a time or two but mostly leaves it to the men.
Wanda does the day to day work on the ranch and is the broker for Macy Realty & Auction. So the paperwork and advertising falls to her.
Colter, or Bar as everyone knows him by, is a trained welder and certified weld inspector graduating from Tulsa Welding school in 2004. He has spent the last 3 years living in McAlester Oklahoma working for an oilfield supplies company and raising his 2 boys along with his wife Samantha. He became a licensed salesman in 2005. They are moving back to Alta Vista and Bar will join Macy Realty & Auction. He hopes to work at a welding career and get back to his iron creations. (Bar is very talented at creating art from iron) He will be available to visit with you concerning your real estate needs in April of 2008.
Steve Patterson has been working with Carey for more than 15 years and has been a great addition to the auction co. Before joining Macy’s, Steve and his family conducted consignment auctions in Council Grove and did many farm and household sales. Steve spends his days driving a truck for Frito Lay or working ground on his Morris Co farm but on sale day you know where he will be found.
Carey and Steve sell it for you, Wanda will advertise it, pay the bills, and write you a check. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Thanks for visiting this site. A lot is going in the Auction crews lives now. Here is an update:
Carey keeps busier than ever with his farrier work. On Fridays he still sells the Livestock sale in Emporia, Ks. Plus another livestock sale in Allen, Ks once or twice a month on Saturday.
Colter (Bar) and his family have settled into the ranch/ welding/ auction/ real estate, life we lead here. He is very busy and sometimes probably wishes he was back on a regular job that allows for time off. But he is doing plenty of welding for hire, building fence, plus learning the home building/ remodeling trade. He is truly a "Jack of all Trades" He also has hay to sell. So if you need small squares of brome or prairie hay, OR large rounds ( 4 x 6 ) just give him or Carey a call.
Steve is still driving for Frito Lay and farming on his Morris Co land. He seems to stay very busy with work, his two daughters, and even some "play".
We have a new addition to our Auction Crew!! Castan ( Colterss son) has taken a "BIG" interest in the auctions. He is only 4 y/o but thinks he wants to be an auctioneer. Of course when he gets the microphone he gets suddenly very shy but that will pass. So for now he can run sheets, hold up items to sell, even catch bids. Just wait though, it wont be long before he is after his Grampas job.
The 5- ranch is beautiful even though it is Sept. With all the cool weather and rain we had this summer the grass is still green and growing. The yearlings have gained well and will soon head to the sale barn, and the cows & calves are fat and ready to go into winter.
So lots of fall ranch work ahead along w/ crop harvest and of course, Auctions.
So keep checking to see the updated Auction schedule and what Real Estate we have listed to sell private. Just give us a call, or an e-mail, if you have questions or wish to have an auction to sell private property, or land. We look forward to hearing from you.
We wish you all many blessings from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
And hope to see you "at the sale"
